(this image was done traditionally, was later on touched in photoshop to give it an 'old' like feeling!)
(title inspired by one of his latest released song Faraway) Right, Last week on the 4th July was Gackt's birthday. I wished to do a drawing but lately I had no will or motivation to do so. On his birthday a very wonderful person on LJ posted scans fom Out of Music, and when I saw this image I felt like i really wanted to draw it. So I started it on his birthday and finished it the day after. Took me a bit till I decided to post it yea? XD Well, first time doing a fully (decent) traditional media artwork. Reference used [link] image was on pc screen while I was drawing XD I hope you al like it, it's a gift for his birthday as well, but since that's a bit late.. it's a gift I dedicate to all of you Dears. ____________ Time took: round 5 hours maybe more (or less) Tools: Graphite, HB pencil, 2B, 4B, 6H and mechanical pencil HB and 2B Touched in photoshop to give it an 'old' feeling Gackt (c) to himself Portrait (c) to me |

Glad ya decided to post it.
Wow, this is breathtaking! In the mass of standard fanart flooding sites like dA, it is a very welcome surprise to see a portrait that sensitive and tender. You didn't just portrait his features very exactly, you also gave him that little bit more which makes a drawing truely special. That certain bit of life, if I may call it like that. You have a great feeling for the graphite, very well done!
Oh, and thanks for the dedication.

i really cannot thank you enough. thank you! thats something which might help me post more of my works in the future XD
(im very and overly attached and protective of my drawings >>
I like the way you did his hair.I'm doing one such drawing (with his latest hairstyle) right now and I lost a lot of nerves trying to make it right. It seems that you had a lot of patience with his new hairstyle and I like that a lot since many people (like me) ruin everything after doing hair!
Plus you gave a touch of your style to it and you can say this is how she(you) sees GACKT!
Love for an idol can do amazing things no?
Def my fave!

A Frozen Heart Will Never Burn
yes its still a nice thing to expose ones artwork, but sometimes, the more ur attached to something you have done, the more it could hurt to hear people criticize them badly.. .__. some people dont know how to criticize well and just say a bunch of insulting stuff so ...
and then there are thieves
overall i need to be prepared mentally when i do some new artwork, and say from the start "i will post this on DA etc etc" before i can actually post it... XD
i cant thank you enough for ur wonderful comments.. and yes i know im over repeating myself! XD
thank you
